TRIPS: Bolivia - A Nation of Contrasts
Day by Day
Duration: 8 days/7 nights
Day 1
La Paz: Arrival to the city, reception in the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon City tour visiting the most interesting places in La Paz, typical places like the Witches Market, artisanal markets, the colonial calle Jaén with its impressive, residential areas of the south and the well known Moon Valley, where erosion has given place to the most exotic and curious surface forms. Overnight.
Day 2
La Paz - After breakfast, 6 hours excursion to the archaelogical place of Tiwanaku, millenarian pre-inca ruins (1.500 b.c.), located in the middle of the Altiplano, where we will appreciate the admirable lithic esculptures, monuments, Suns’ Door, temples, the local museum and also the church in the town, which was built in 1612, most of it with stones and material from the ruins.. Includes typical lunch and entry fees. Overnight. B, L
Day 3
Breakfast. Titikaka Lake – Copacabana – Sun Island. Full day excursion with lunch. Arriving to Copacabana visit to the town, the beatiful church where is the Dark Madonna . Following we board our comfortable boat and head towards the Sun Island (1 hour ride). The Sun Island is worshipped as the birthplace of Manco Kápac and Mama Ocllo the first founders of the Inca’s Empire. Some ruins like the Pilkokaina Palace, the Inca’s Fontaine, the 200 stairs of Yumani are part of this beatiful Island, worth to see it. Return to Copacabana for lunch and back to La Paz Overnight. Day 4
La Paz – Santa Cruz. Breakfast and transfer to the airport. Flight to Santa Cruz. Welcome and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon: City Tour visiting the main city attractions: Plaza 24 de Septiembre, Cathedral, Museos Etnofolclórico and Historia Natural. The tour culminates visiting the Camp of Arts, where native women of different comunities expose their most traditional and sophisticated handcraft. Overnight. B
Day 5
Santa Cruz – San Javier – Concepción. Jessuit Missions. Architectonic jewelry of the XVIII century.- Breakfast and departure to San Javier. In our drive we shall appreciate beautiful sceneries and forests. In San Javier we will visit the first Jesuitical Mission and the amazing baroque-colonial. We then continue our drive up to Concepción (2 hours drive) where we shall dine and overnight. B, L, D
Day 6
Concepcion - Santa Cruz. Breakfast and visit the church and handcraft workshops. Afterwards we will enjoy a typical lunch. Return to Santa Cruz . Overnight. B, L
Day 7
Transfer out
Option Day 6 and Day 7
Parque Nacional Amboró: Ecological Park Reserve. It is the most important park in eastern Bolivia, with an incredible and very rich flora and fauna, particularly exotic birds.
Day 6
Departure at 8:00 heading to Buena Vista that is 2 hours drive north from Santa Cruz. Stroll observing flowers and birds. Country lunch. In the afternoon visit to the Puerto Picón cascade where you can enjoy swim. We will camp there.
Day 7
Breakfast. Walk into the Jungle. Thereafter return to Santa Cruz.
